Railway EXCHANGE

Restoring a St. Louis Icon

The Railway Exchange Building in downtown St. Louis is a 21-story structure built in 1914.

Once the home of the Famous-Barr department store and the May Department Stores headquarters, this 1.2 million-square-foot building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The redevelopment of this iconic building will transform it into a modern retail and office space while preserving its historic architectural features. The project benefits from federal and historic tax credits and will play a key role in St. Louis’ downtown revitalization.
